Nate Throckmorton has signed his letter of intent to play football and further his education at Alderson Broaddus University! Congratulations, Nate!

The Division III State Wrestling meet will take place at Marion Harding High School this weekend. Garrett Simmons is an alternate for the 138 pound class and could wrestle in the first session that begins at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Isaac Gray will compete in the 160 pound class and that session begins at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The bracket for his weight class is posted here. Isaac Gray has qualified to compete at the Division III OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament next weekend at Marion Harding H.S. ! Isaac finished 2nd in the 160 lb class to qualify! In the 138 lb class, Garrett Simmons placed 5th and is the alternate for the state tournament in his class!

Our boys' basketball team will departing for their district title game tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Ohio State Patrol, Ross County Sheriff’s Department, Concord Fire Department & EMS, and the Deerfield Fire Department & EMS will be escorting them as they depart! The escort will lead the team from the school down 550 to Frankfort. Once in Frankfort the bus will be escorted to Main St. The bus will travel down Main St., then turn left onto High St. The team will then exit Frankfort on Second St. Stand along the streets loud and proud as we support our kids and coaches. Go Blue!!

Kindergarten students will not be in school on April 1st due to registrations and screenings of the new Kindergarten class of 2021-2022. Please mark your calendars that ONLY KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS WILL NOT BE IN SCHOOL ON April 1st, 2021 Thank you.

Our Warriors are advancing to a Division III District Championship game after defeating South Point, 74-48! They improve to 23-2 on the season. They will now play Fairland on Friday at 7 p.m. The game will be played at Ironton H.S. Go Warriors!

We are excited to share that Mr. Denny Hammond has been named Teacher of the Month for February in our region by the Ohio Lottery Partners in Education Program! This award is given to a teacher on the basis of excellence in leadership, dedication, communication, and motivation, and in the classroom. Mr. Hammond is in his 18th year in education and this is his third year at Adena High School. He currently teaches Consumer Math, Algebra I, and Pre-Algebra. Congratulations, Mr. Hammond! Keep up the great work!

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF INCOMING KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS FOR 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR!!!! Kindergarten assessments are required as part of the registration process. The assessments will be held on March 31st, 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and April 1st, 8:00 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. Please call the Elementary Office at 740-998-5293 to schedule an appointment. Appointment slots are filling up quickly!!!

Adena was well represented at the Ross County Spelling Bee. Clara Ewing was the Champion. Hayley Bossert and Meghan Hurless finished third and fourth, respectively. Congratulations ladies on a job well done!

The high school received all of the fall end-of-course exam results at the beginning of last week. Reports for families will be available by the end of March. These were our first state test results since the fall of 2019 test data. With everything we have dealt with through this pandemic, there was some uncertainty of what would come from the results. However, we received a lot of positive news! Our English II scores came back at the highest proficiency percentage we have ever had in one semester on the EOC assessment! English II had a 72.5% passing rate and improved nearly 6% over the past year. Other highlights were Algebra I at 89% and Government at 88%. American History went up 15% from the previous year to 67%. Through all the challenges the staff, students, and parents have learned to adjust to, it is good to see that academic growth and progress has been made. This is contributed to one big team effort! We have made progress through adversity and learned a lot of new skills along the way. We still have a lot of progress that needs to be made. We just need to keep working and helping each other along the way! Josh Jones Adena High School Principal

Our wrestling team competed at the Division III Sectional meet this weekend at Alexander and have several members of the team advancing to districts! Wrestlers advancing in the following weight classes: 113 lb class -Alex Riddle claimed a sectional championship! 138 lb class- Garrett Simmons finished second to advance on. 145 lb class-Chase Knisley finished 5th and is the district alternate. 160 lb class-Isaac Gray won a sectional championship! The district meet will be held in Coshocton next Friday and Saturday. Go Warriors!
